Self Love Is The Best Love: Valentine's Day Ideas For Bachelorettes

So, it is the month of love and this Friday is Valentine's day. An opportunity for lovebirds to remind each other just how much they appreciate one another. The general perception of Valentine's day being strictly reserved for people who have partners is unfair, especially if you're single like myself. Yes, Drake and I are married but we're currently taking a break to figure out what we both want, so your girl is technically single. This is why I've decided to publish a blog post on how to enjoy Valentine's day, despite being single. I hope you enjoy it.

1. Gift yourself something thoughtful

For some odd reason, many of us forget to gift ourselves. I guess we just don't think it's important. This Valentine's day, gift yourself something thoughtful. Something that resonates with you, and makes you happy. You're always willing to gift those you love. Maybe it's time to gift yourself too.

Here are few gift ideas for the five different love languages:

- Words of affirmation - since this is my love language, I'll be gifting myself a journal in which I will write only positive quotes and affirmations.

- Quality time - if your love language is quality time, you could take yourself out to go watch movie or to a restaurant. The whole point is to spend quality time with yourself.

- Acts of service - if you're an acts of service kind of person, you could go to the salon and get your hair, nails, toes or even all of them done.

- Physical Touch - if your love language is physical touch, you could treat yourself to a well deserved spa day and get a massage.

- Gifts - if your love language is receiving gifts this would be the perfect time to buy yourself something cute. Get that bag that you have been eyeing since last year.

2. Dress to impress even if you won't be leaving the house

If you had a date, you would dress to impress so why not do it for yourself? If you have any red clothing items, this will be the perfect time to show them off. Do your hair, moisturise, put on your favourite perfume - the works!

Here are a few looks you could try out for different date ideas:

- The Classic Valentine's Day Outfit - this is my kind of Valentine's day outfit. It might seem cheesy but when I think Valentine's day outfits, I think red carpet dresses, golden jewellery and a beautiful pair of heels. I honestly don't mind dressing like a rich housewife just to go to the mall.

-Day time, picnic vibes - if you're more into chilled outfits, this idea right here is definitely for you. This is more for a day time look so a pair of slides or sandals will do just fine.

-Casual Chic - for all my sneaker girls, this outfit idea right here is your fighter. This outfit is perfect for the movies or just a chilled date at your nearest restaurant.

3. Take selfies

You can't look cute and not take selfies. You don't even have to post them. The whole idea is to enjoy your solitude and be your best self. If you can, ask someone to take full length pictures of you. Or better yet, hire a professional photographer if you have the coins.

4. Hang out with the girls

If you have any girlfriends who are in the same boat as you, call them up for a hangout. You can go to the movies, have a girls' night out or even have a sleepover. Yes, sleepovers are still a thing. This is an opportunity for you and your friends to catch up and create new memories.

5. Have fun
Whatever you decide to do on Valentine's, make sure it's something you enjoy. Don't let cute Instagram couples make you feel bad for not being boo'd up. Solitude will always be a good thing. Instead of sulking about being single, use this opportunity to spend quality time with yourself.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post and aren't going to let being single stop you from riding the Valentine's day wave. Remember, self love is the best love. Take care.
