10 Of My Style Icons & Why I Love Them

-Fashion changes, style endures. ~ Coco Chanel

I've come to the realisation that I haven't had a fashion post which is weird considering my obsession with clothes. This is why I've decided to share ten of style icons with you, as well as why I love and admire them. I'm sharing my style icons with you so you can stalk them on social media for outfit ideas, just like I do. I have many style icons but these ones are the creme de le creme. I hope you enjoy this post and you're welcome.

1. Kefilwe Mabote

Blogger Kefilwe Mabote popularly known as Kefiboo is up first. Her popularity as a blogger is a result of the brand she has created for herself over the years. She is best known for the Kefi Vogue Styles whose main focus is on the promotion of luxury brands.

I would describe Kefilwe's style as chic. She wears clothes that aren't only classy, but are timeless too. The fact that she's able to make red and orange look good says a lot about her level of style.

Apart from her style, I really like her blog. As a beginner, Kefilwe's Keeps is really inspirational to me. It's consistent and stays true to it's niche.

Kefilwe is a mother of two BTW. If this doesn't inspire you to go to the gym, nothing will.

2. Mihlali Ndamase

Lifestyle vlogger Mihlali Ndamase is definitely a fave. She's an influencer who has worked with many brands and has covered the Cosmopolitan. She also has over a hundred thousand subscribers on her YouTube channel.

Mihlali's style is edgy. She's able to be chic and elegant today, then casual and vibrant tomorrow. Her makeup skills also spice up her looks.

I'm very inspired by how Mihlali started her YouTube channel when YouTube wasn't as popular as it is today in South Africa and still made it. She's also the cofounder of Siyasizana Foundation which provides food and clothes to underprivileged women and children. A generous queen!

3. Thickleeyonce

Influencer Thickleeyonce is the cofounder of Leebex, a clothing boutique promoting plus size fashion.

Thickleeyonce's style is vibrant and classy. She rocks anything and everything. From leather jackets to classy coats.

Thickleeyonce is an advocate for body positivity which I really admire. It's refreshing to see a popular figure who doesn't conform to society's beauty standards and has no interest in  conforming to them either.

4. Sarah Langa

Lifestyle blogger and stylist Sarah Langa has to be on this list. Sarah is also an influencer who has worked with many big brands. Her blog focuses on her travels which are definitely worth keeping up with.

Sarah's style is elegance defined. Her outfits are ladylike and classy. Her outfits make Louis Vuitton bags look better than they actually do.

Sarah Langa is also a student at Wits which is admirable. Despite, being this popular, she still values education and sees it's importance.

5. Bonang Matheba

Boss babe Bonang Matheba doesn't need an introduction. She has covered the Cosmopolitan, GQ and many other popular magazines. She's also known for her popular reality show, Being Bonang.

Bonang's style is chic. Like the above mentioned style icons, she rocks both casual and classy outfits.

I really admire how Bonang has built her brand over the years. She is truly a national treasure. From a lingerie line to champagne, darling. Also, we all know that any show presented by Queen B is a show worth watching.

6. Nomuzi Mabena

Rapper and TV personality Nomuzi Mabena better known as Moozlie is definitely one of my style icons. She was discovered during the MTV Base VJ Search and later started her music career.

Nomuzi's style is BOLD. She wears trendy outfits but adds her own touch to them.I  like Moozlie's hairstyles as much as her outfits. She is very experimental with her hair which is really inspiring for boring girls like myself.

I also like Moozlie's aura. No, I don't know her personally. However, I've watched quite a few of her interviews and she seems very confident and sure about herself. This is also evident in the way she has handled the backlash regarding the Volkswagen campaign.

7. Thabsie

Songbird Thabsie is super stylish. Her outfits are trendy and edgy. Most of us were first introduced to Thabsie through her feature in Kwesta's hit single, Ng'yazfela.

I also like how bold she is with her hairstyles. Thabsie made pink box braids look good. It honestly doesn't get better than that.

I'm inspired by Thabsie's style because she has a petite body shape like myself. Therefore, I always have hope that whatever looks good on her will look good on me. I also like how laid back she is. She seems like a humble and peaceful soul.

8. Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner, the world's first self made billionaire has to be on this list. She is a trendsetter who doesn't shy away from following trends either.

Her casual style game is unmatched. Kylie makes the simplest outfits look great by adding a single item that just makes them pop.

I love how Kylie is growing her already big brand. Her makeup line is doing really well and she has recently started a skin care brand. Boss moves.

9. Kim Kardashian

Boss babe Kim K has to be on this list. Her influence when it comes to fashion cannot be disputed.
Kim K had us all wearing tights throughout 2018. That's influence!

Her hairstyles are no different. She has set so many trends when it comes to hairstyles. And who could forget her signature hairstyle, the low ponytail.

What I love most about Kim K is how she has built her brand over the years. From working for Paris Hilton, to owning a whole empire of her own. Boss.

10. Rihanna

Last but definitely not least, bad girl Riri. Fenty babe Rihanna is style defined. She is a fashion icon to many, setting trends that have shaken the entire world.

Her brand has branched from makeup to clothes, skincare and who knows what's next?
Rihanna is known for her BOLD outfits. She makes anything and everything look good. Apart from her outfits, Rihanna's hairstyles are also amazing. She's very influential when it comes to fashion. Rihanna is the girl who had us thinking pixie cuts were what's hot. She's also the girl whose pictures are in almost every salon in the hood.

I love how Rihanna is a popstar turned business woman. I also love how inclusive her brand is. Fenty makeup caters for so many skin tones while Fenty clothing caters for so many shapes and sizes.

I hope this post inspired you to follow these beautiful women for outfit ideas. Keep in mind however that the secret to great style is to feel good in what you wear. And remember, life is short. Make every outfit count.
