Hot Girl Summer: Pretty Feet 101

Hey Bouquet! I hope you're all doing well. Since my previous blog post was a fashion one, I figured that beauty being this post's subject would make sense. Hot Girl Summer isn't over yet so rocking strappy heels, sandals and slides is still a thing. Therefore, pretty feet are a MUST! In this blog post, I'll be sharing tips on how to keep your feet looking pretty for the remainder of Hot Girl Summer. I hope you enjoy this it.

1. Use a pumice stone to exfoliate your feet

Pumice stones are super affordable and accessible at most retailers. Using a pumice stone will rid dead skin cells. This will make it easier for your feet to absorb and lock in moisture. Be gentle when doing this.

2. Soak your feet in your favourite oil

After exfoliating your feet and being a hundred percent sure that they are clean, soak them in your favourite oil. I've heard a few people recommend using Listerine to get soft feet so I guess that works as well. I use coconut oil on mine and I absolutely love it. I pour half a cup of coconut oil into the hot (not too hot though) water that I'll be using to soak my feet and soak them for at least half an hour. I do this once a week, preferably on a Sunday when I do all my other weekly beauty routines. You can also add a bath salt or too to spice things up. Mr. Price has a beauty range now (Scarlett Hill) and it's super affordable so you can get your salts from there.

3. Moisturise your feet regularly

Just like every other part of your body, your feet need moisture. I recommend using a heavy cream to do this. If creams aren't your cup of tea, using Vaseline or any other oil to moisturise is even better. I use Nivea body cream to moisturise my feet and I would recommend it to anyone, including people with sensitive skin. I don't recommend using any other light cream because I doubt it will give your feet the amount of moisture that they need.

4. Always have your toe nails clipped

Having long toes nails could damage you feet since it will make it difficult for you to wear certain types of shoes. Apart from damaging your feet, long toe nails are very unattractive. Hot girl summer, remember?

6. Clean your toe nails before painting them

No, you don't have to use a pair of scissors to do this. Using nail polish remover to remove old nail polish and generally washing your toes when taking a shower will do. This will have your toe nails looking clean and ready for their next nail polish application session. If you have the coins, retailers such as Dischem and Clicks have toe nail oils which I'm sure are good for strengthening toe nails.

6. Paint your toes nails with your choice of colour

If like myself a professional pedicure is out of your budget, this is the better option. I recommend choosing a colour that best flatters your skin tone or a colour that you really like. You'll have the nail polish on for at least a week so you don't want to make it a colour that will have you hesitating to look at your toes.

7. Use baby powder on both your feet and shoes

This tip can only be implemented if you're going to be wearing shoes that cover your feet completely of course. The last thing you want is for the baby powder to make your feet look ashy. Baby powder rids bad odor and isn't harmful to your skin at all since it's designed for babies. You could also use foot powder if you prefer that.

If you want to have an overnight foot glo-up, try putting on a pair of fluffy socks overnight. This is of course after you have done everything I've mentioned in this post. I promise that your feet will be smooth and ready to tackle the remainder of Hot Girl Summer.
If you've tried all of this and your feet still aren't as soft as you would like them to be, remember that they don't have to be soft. Realistically speaking, our feet being hard makes a lot of us. We've been walking this earth for many years. Something has got to show for it.

The products I mentioned in this post can all be found at these affordable retailers:
- Mr. Price
- Pep
- Dischem

I hope you enjoyed this blog post. The Hot Girl Summer segment is back and I hope you're as excited about it as I am. Take care.
